FLORANCE SIMPSON MFA Florance is the creator of the Blissful MOM, Journey to Motherhood, Blessed Babe and Blessedly Blissful kits. An active leader in the childbirth community she was inspired by her studies in the fine arts to create workshops for expectant women as a vehicle of self-exploration on their journey to motherhood. Unable to travel and teach as many birth art exploration workshops as requested, Florance decided to create a line of kits that would offer women everywhere the opportunity to explore their own personal journey through insightful and creative mediums. The opportunity of working with hundreds of pregnant and new mothers each year gives Florance a profound understanding of the highly personal nature that pregnancy is for each and every one of them. This understanding and experience has guided the creation of the kits. Florance is co-founder and senior teacher at the Mothering Touch Centre in Victoria, BC. She also teaches at the YM/YWCA and local community centres. She studied at the University of Lethbridge where she received her Bachelor of Arts & Sciences, the University of Victoria where she received her MFA, and on to her life as a doula [DONA], childbirth educator and breastfeeding councellor through studies at Douglas College [Vancouver, BC]. Florance is also a certified yoga instructor with special training in yoga for pregnancy & postpartum [Salt Spring Yoga Centre]. Her first experience with celebrating pregnancy through an artistic medium dates back to 1990 when she did a belly cast for a pregnant actress in a show she designed costumes for. The celebrating continues today with Blissful MOM Blessed Babe products! Florance lives with her soul mate, Doug, and the loves of her life, her four children. |
